Considered a quintessential delicacy in the Channel Islands, Jersey Ormers are a type of shellfish, a gastropod mollusk that’s been traditionally collected on the island for centuries. This native shellfish (also known as European abalone) is reminiscent of a flattened Pacific abalone (sea snail) but with a rainbow overtone and smaller in size. Our new beautifully designed ormer shell earrings are set with a piece of natural Jersey Ormer Shell and made with solid Sterling Silver with Rhodium plating. Rhodium-plated silver is fine sterling silver that is polished and dipped in rhodium. It has a bright finish, similar to white gold items, and it doesn’t tarnish easily like plain silver.
