To be honest, I’ve been cleaning out some old corners of bead storage & I keep finding these treasures! These obsidian beads were labeled & stored as onyx, because they look a lot like onyx, but they are not. As you are looking at them, you can see something is different, they look kind of grey, then you’ll see one that looks pink or one that looks green, and that is when I realized this is rainbow obsidian & not onyx at all! As you can see in the images, these stones are not without issue – they have some wear, and it shows, but at the same time, these are big, heavy, faceted, black obsidian beads with some interesting rainbow phenomena in some of the beads. I honestly don’t know if every single strand has some stones that show color, I’ve examined them until I can’t see anymore and I just don’t know. Even if they do show color it is subtle.
